Huanchaco, Trujillo, Chan Chan, Huaca de la Luna

After our missed opportunity to the beach, we really went to the beach near Trujillo named Huanchaco. As it was so relaxing seeing the sea and having a quite hostel we decided to stay a night longer than planned. The first day we spent in Chan Chan the biggest clay-built city in the world. As there were just some remainings they rebuilt the most important parts of the ruling city of the Chimu. As the day started cloudy we finally got a little sunburn strolling around the clay reliefs and walls.
We went to Trujillo as well, a nice an relaxing city with lots of colorful colonial houses along the center. Here you could really realize what impact a pedestrian zone has to a city.

The next day we had our relaxing beach day, reading and watching the surfers - some doing very good. And even if we were prepared with sunblocker this time, we underestimated the sun again (it was far too windy). Bernd got him self some shoulder burns and I was just on the merge of a burn thanks to the philippine skin. In the evening we tried to find a nice fish restaurant, but as it is low season, all the restaurants were empty and we could go for one of them. So we went back to our nice Hostal at the almost far end of the beach and ate some pasta - but very good pasta (now in Lima, it really seems as if the Peruanian people are badly into pasta and pizza :)).

The last day we spent some time at Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna, the city and temple of the Moche near Trujillo. To avoid chaos with the minibusses we just took the cab from the city, which was a very good idea as the cabdriver went to hidden streets until he reached the foot of a mountain. The arqueological site was awsome because you still can see the arqueologist digging out new parts of the city and temple and preserving the remaining. It really looked like in an Indiana Jones movie :) Bad Bernd didnt have his Panama hat with him!

In the evening we took the bus to Lima, the Capital of Peru. We went with the most comfortable busline in Peru, Cruz del Sur, and it was worth it, so we could sleep the whole night - but it was also a caucasian ride. (caucasian = white people, Bernd thinks you dont know the word....).
