Revisiting Southamerica

Just some last nostalgic impressions from us...

Ecuador
  • Even if they do not have German bread they have delicious backery
  • Overregionalbusses are used for short travelling as well :)
  • Even if the church was destroyed, don't neglect it - it still can be used as a adventurous sightseeing spot
  • A almuerzito is really a small lunch (five minutes off the bus)
  • Southamerican spanish is more polite and therefore distant at first (I want to point out, this is not referring to the people ;)
Peru
  • They love pizza and pasta!
  • Lomo saltado
  • Mote, Chimú and more lived here before the Inca
  • A lot of hiking and breathtaking nature
  • The journey is the reward
  • There are tourists in Southamerica
Bolivia
  • Even a Lonely Planet could have some flaws (especially for the "beautiness" of Copacabana)
  • Moste of the time a False Fifty is really not from you...
  • Busses are not in shape - none of them, no matter what someone tells you
  • Lagoons and moutains can have seven colors!
  • If you need a football shirt, go to La Paz (c/ Santa Cruz)
  • Tucans are interesting birds
  • Pique macho
  • Sunday is a resting day - and half of Saturday...
Paraguay
  • They really still speak German in the colonies, they have German sausages and the post to northern parts of Germany takes longer than to the southern parts
  • Where you can withdraw one million from the ATM (5900 Guarani = 1 Euro)
  • It's getting european and football-patriotic
Brasil
  • "Aren't you afraid of hold-up robberies? You should hide your money in different places!"
Uruguay
  • This is not Southamerica anymore, but charming like Italy
  • Oldtimer can still be used for driving :)
  • Best meat-eating atmosphere on the "market" in Montevideo
  • Wishing back Bolivian prices
Argentina/Buenos Aires
  • Oh my god, the street is huge!
  • Very impressive city, a good start or end for a roundtrip through Southamerica, but if you haven't been to Spain - start there :)
  • There is no airport fee anymore! (B.A. is european enough to charge the companies already)
  • "Messi, das ist doch der, der nicht aufräumt" (O-Ton beim deutschen Public Viewing ;)/"Messi, isn't he the one who doesn't clean up"
  • "Shopuedoaschudarle" means "can I help you"...
  • Order your meat a punto otherwise they might grill their outstanding meat well done
  • Israel outside of Israel
To be continued...
